In Islam, there are two major Eids (Celebration Festivals): Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and Eid-ul-Adha, which marks the end of the yearly Hajj journey at the time of Qurbani (sacrifice).
Although Eid Adha has no direct connection to the Hajj Pilgrimage. It is just a day after Hajj is completed and hence has historical significance.
“…And whosoever fears God and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine….” [Quran 65:2-3]
Eid Adha is crucial to Muslims because it reminds them of Ibrahim’s obedience to God. inspiring them to reflect on their own obedience to God. Muslims may seek forgiveness for times when they have not been completely devoted to God. And pray for the strength to do so in the future.

Why do we sacrifice on Eid-ul-Adha?
Every year during the Eid-al-Adha festival, Muslims all around the world kill an animal — a goat, sheep, cow, or camel — to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail (Ishmael), after Allah (God) directed him in a dream to do so. Ibrahim was about to do so when Allah intervened and provided him a lamb to sacrifice instead. The Arabic word for sacrifice, udhiya (or qurbani). It is used to commemorate this act of loyalty to Allah on Eid al-Adha.
“There does not reach Allah their flesh nor their blood, but to Him is acceptable the guarding (against evil) on your part; thus has He made them subservient to you, that you may magnify Allah because He has guided you aright; and give good news to those who do good (to others).” [Qur’an 22:37]
Importance of Eid-ul-Adha in Islam
In Islam, Muslims commemorate the willingness of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) in obedience to Almighty Allah by celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr after the end of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Adha, also known as greater Eid, which marks the willingness of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) in obedience to Almighty Allah. Because Eid means “to rejoice” and Adha means “to sacrifice. Eid-ul-Adha is also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice. Which Muslims sacrifice a domestic animal such as a cow, sheep, goat, or camel for the sake of Allah Almighty on one of the three Eid-ul-Adha days. On the 10th of Zil Hajj, Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Adha.
In the holy month of Zil Hajj, Muslims from all over the world who are physically and financially secure travel to Makah to make the sacred pilgrimage Hajj. We should all be aware that Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, and that every Muslim must perform it at least once in their lives if they are financially stable. Following the Hajj, Muslims commemorate Eid-ul-Adha by slaughtering animals while reciting the name of Allah. This serves as a reminder that life is holy. The meat from the Eid al-Adha sacrifice is mostly distributed to others. One-third of the food is consumed by immediate family and relatives. One-third is distributed to friends, and one-third is donated to the poor and needy. This act of donating represents our readiness to forego items that benefit us or are dear to our hearts in order to obey Allah’s directives.
