The most significant overhauls since the game’s inception are coming to FIFA 23 Ultimate Team
Alterations to Chemistry and Positioning are described in the guide for your FIFA 23 Ultimate Team.
Ultimate Team brought in $1.62 billion during EA’s fiscal year 2021, which was equivalent to 29% of the company’s overall revenue. There is no one type of gaming that is more popular or lucrative than others. If this is the case, then perhaps you can comprehend why only minor adjustments were made in preparation for FIFA 22. However, upon closer inspection, FUT’s manicured turf revealed the presence of weeds that had recently sprouted. Options for playing by yourself? Very little has changed. What could it be? Identical. The ability to play Kylian Mbappe alongside Robert Lewandowki without incurring any penalties? Impossible. If these ivy sprouts were left unattended, it would lend credence to every social media claim that the publisher prioritizes profit over player feedback. As a result, it is a relief to report that Ultimate Team will be altered significantly for FIFA 23, as this would refute those claims.
Let’s begin by debunking the Twitter rumor that has generated the most buzz: chemistry hasn’t been rendered obsolete. However, it has been completely reworked as part of a long-overdue strategic adjustment. You will still receive a bonus for including players from the same team or league in a line-up, but they do not have to be in close proximity to one another in order to do so. In point of fact, both the old loyalty system and the chemistry system for squads have been eliminated entirely.
- Even though Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Roberto Firminho play in different positions, if you put them on the same team, you will receive three chemistry points for each player
- This is the maximum number of points that can be earned
- There is also no negative impact on the player’s statistics if, for example, Kylian Mbappe plays for an all-English team or Nick Pope starts in goal for a La Liga lineup
- Even though neither Mbappe nor Pope will contribute anything to the team’s chemistry, they will still play with the same stats that are listed on their cards
The adjustment was made with three distinct goals in mind at the same time.”We want to increase squad variety and allow for a wider range of player selections,” says line producer Mike Barnucz. “This will enable more diverse team compositions by removing the barriers created by positional links.””It also adds more intuitive mechanics that make squad building easier, which makes the experience more authentic and more rewarding. In addition to this, it eliminates frequent irritants, such as decreased player attributes brought on by poor chemistry… a design that was frequently confusing to new players.
Adjustments made to the positions
In addition to these minor adjustments, Positioning cards have been revised. In the past, these positions were restricted to a single length of the field: you could move a left back to the left wing and then to the left forward (and back), a right back to the right wing and then to the right forward, and even a defensive midfielder all the way up to the striker position. However, a defender could never switch positions to become a midfielder, and a player on the left flank was penalized for switching to the right flank, despite players like Raheem Sterling and Kingsley Coman being capable of playing on either side.
Positioning cards are now, thankfully, both easier to use and more tailored to the individual. If you equip one of these to a player, you’ll be able to move that player into any of Joao Cancelo’s second positions without spending FUT 23 coins. As a result, the real-life versatility of Cancelo is finally reflected and rewarded in the video game. In a similar vein, you can mercifully wave goodbye to competing against other players online when you use N’Golo Kante at ST. You are unable to assign a player to a position on EA’s virtual turf if that player does not play in that slot in the real world, and if he is placed there, he contributes nothing to the team’s chemistry. The adjustment should result in increased authenticity and a reduction in perspiration.
According to Barnucz, “Base players, such as bronze, silver, and gold, each have a preferred position in addition to up to three alternative positions.”Kylian Mbappe is most comfortable playing the position of ST, but he is also capable of playing the roles of LW and CF. By utilizing an item known as a Position Modifier, it is possible to switch Mbappe from his preferred position to one of the alternative positions that have been provided. Mbappe could then be moved into that position in the starting XI, and the team would be able to work on developing their chemistry.
The single-player component is also seeing some long-awaited improvement. You don’t have time to participate in a full match, but you could use a quick fix, right? Tell FUT Moments what you think for FIFA FUT coins. These quick challenges will drop you into longer, more difficult challenges after a short introduction. Complete them to earn stars, which can then be converted into larger rewards; for instance, one screen demonstrates that accumulating up to 300 stars results in the acquisition of a TOTW player rated 87.
If you’ve played Madden 22, the system isn’t really new; in fact, it looks pretty much identical to the one that’s in MUT. The good news is that I’ve found myself addicted to the latter, which features brand new obstacles and enticing rewards added during each major campaign. If sister studio Tiburon’s frequency and creativity can be matched by EA Canada, then FIFA Ultimate Team Moments will not only be able to complement Squad Battles and Division Rivals, but it will also prove to be more popular than both of those modes combined.
Caen you feel it
For instance, the FUT Moments campaign that features Dybala as the main reward is based on the player who is featured on the cover of FIFA 23. It is called Rise of Mbappe, and it features 62 different scenarios in which the Frenchman is featured. Of these, 14 are from his early career, 11 are him as a “rising star,” and so on. One observes him enter the game against Caen as a substitute in the 88th minute; to earn the maximum number of stars, one must complete three passes and score a volley. Have you missed a shining star? You have the option to keep playing through it or to move on to the next challenge, just like in Madden.
It would be unfair to say that EA ignored FUT in FIFA 22, as the company chose to concentrate its resources on other aspects of the game, such as the career mode. A set of players who don’t quite meet the criteria for Icon status but found fame in a particular league were included in FIFA 22’s Heroes mode, which was a welcome addition. EA has confirmed that the Heroes list will expand by at least four names in FIFA 23, with Claudio Marchisio, Ricardo Carvalho, Park Ji-Sung, and Yaya Toure being the most tantalizing addition. This season, I’ve had a lot of fun building a Ligue 1 team around David Ginola. Throughout the 2010s, Toure’s strength, passing ability, and long-range shooting made him a true Ultimate Team force, and his return is a major development for the game.(Remember that I wrote that when he’s tearing me to pieces in weekend league games all throughout the month of October.)
Other adjustments are more subtle in nature. It will be interesting to keep an eye on the Squad Building Challenges because, now that there is no more overall team chemistry, they are going to look noticeably different. The sum of the chemistry of all the players will be 33, rather than 100. The Top 200 leaderboard that was previously available for Squad Battles has been removed, and the transfer market is now a single entity that spans the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Stadia platforms. There will also be some kind of FIFA Ultimate Team tie-in with the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, it has been promised. As I write this, we are about six weeks away from releasing our FIFA 23 review, and these alterations to the game mode with the most players will be the first thing that will be scrutinized by GR’s Roy-Hodgson-branded microscope.
