Importance of Jummah in Islam [Friday] Benefits of Jummah (2021)

The Qur’an invokes the importance of Jummah in islam as a sacred day of worship in a chapter called “Al-Jumah,” meaning the day of congregation, which is also the word for Friday in Arabic.

When called to congregational (Friday) prayer, rush to God’s remembrance and abandon trade.

Because Muslims congregate for prayer in congregation on Friday, Jummah (Friday) is the most important day of the week for them.

Muslims listen to a bayan about Islam, Prophets, and Allah Almighty before their Friday prayer.

Congregational prayers, as we all know, are highly valued in Islam, and this is the day on which Muslims gather in large numbers for the Jummah Prayer in comparison to other days. Allah says:

O believers! When the call to prayer is made on Friday, then proceed ˹diligently˺ to the remembrance of Allah and leave off ˹your˺ business. That is best for you, if only you knew.(Surah Al-Jummah, 62:9)
