From oval mirrors and custom mirrors to large mirrors and small mirrors, you will find it all with us. We supply custom mirrors or we can supply them from our large stock.
What types of mirrors are there?
Large, small, round, square, blank or colored. A facet in the mirror or a bar counter. Mirrors come in different shapes, sizes, colors and designs. There is a mirror for every situation, tailor-made or not. It just depends on which room you are looking for a mirror for and what suits your interior of course.
But, what fits with your interior? It is best to first determine in which room and where the mirror will hang. Does the mirror serve as a wall decoration or does it really have a function? Once you have determined that, you can start thinking about the shape of the mirror.
For example, a standing mirror is often not attached to the wall. The name says it all, it will remain. And is usually to see for yourself. Ideal for the bedroom. A wall mirror, on the other hand, is often mounted on the wall and is suitable for different rooms and functions. In the hallway, the toilet or as a decoration on the wall in the living room.
And for areas where safety is important, take public areas, there are also safety mirrors. These have a foil on the back, so that the mirror does not disintegrate into all pieces when broken, but it sticks to the foil.
Where do you hang a mirror?
If you have purchased a mirror, you naturally want to hang it up as soon as possible. Logical! But the big question is often: ‘where and how high?’ There are several beautiful places in and around the house to hang a mirror.
Are you going to decide where the mirror will hang? Then keep these two things in mind:
- Hang a mirror opposite a window or light source
This makes rooms seem a lot bigger and the reflection of the sunlight gives a warm and cozy feeling. - Height of the room
How high is the room? Take that into account in your decision. In a low room, for example, it is best to hang a mirror horizontally to make it appear higher. And vertically in a high room to make the room appear longer.
And how high do you hang the mirror?
The spot has been determined, then it’s time to think about the height. When determining the height, there is of course a difference in the shape of the mirror. Round, oval, square. And size also plays an important role. We give you some tips for determining the height.
Tip 1: Who will use it?
Who will use the mirror? This is important! If you know who they are, you can calculate the average height and based on that determine how high or how low the mirror will be. That way everyone can enjoy it.
Example: it is best to hang a 2 meter high mirror slightly (about 30 cm) above the ground. And for a mirror of 60×60 it is best to take the average eye height as a starting point.
Tip 2: The light source
Where is the lamp or TV? The reflection of this may shine in your eyes. So keep that in mind when hanging. It is best to test it beforehand. Hold on to the wall for a while and see if it’s the right height. So there are no nasty reflections.
How do I hang a mirror?
The location and height have been determined, now the confirmation is still needed. It is important to determine in advance how you will attach the mirror. After all, you don’t want it to fall off the wall. Hanging a mirror can be done in several ways. This of course depends on the size and weight of the mirror. You can hang a mirror by
by means of clamps, with tape or with sealant or in a specially made U-profile or click profile that you attach to the wall. Do you want to fix the mirror with glue? Then make sure you use (acid-free) mirror glue and apply the glue in vertical strips, and never in horizontal strips.
In addition to that, depending on which situation you attach the mirror, the method of attachment is chosen: Do not glue it on a plasterboard, but use clamps that you mount with screws. This way you can be sure that the mirror will stick to the wall.
How to clean mirror?
Once the mirror is up, you naturally want to keep it clean. Because a dirty mirror does not look fresh in your interior. We tell you how to have your mirror spic and span in three steps!
- Cleaning the frame: First clean the frame of the mirror with a damp cloth. There is special cleaning agent to clean frames. But beware: do not apply this to your mirror without a frame!
- Cleaning the glass: now it’s the turn of the glass! Grab a clean cloth, some glass polish or glass cleaner and spray the glass. Then make zigzag movements from top to bottom until you have the glass completely clean.
- Check!: Take a step back and see if the mirror is ‘really clean’. Do you no longer see stripes or missed spots? Well? Then wipe it off with the other side of the cloth!
