The Qur’an invokes the importance of Jummah in islam as a sacred day of worship in a chapter called “Al-Jumah,” meaning the day of congregation, which is also the word for Friday in Arabic.

“O believers! When the call to prayer is made on Friday, then proceed ˹diligently˺ to the remembrance of Allah and leave off ˹your˺ business. That is best for you, if only you knew.” (Surah Al-Jummah, 62:9)
Benefits of Jummah In Islam [Friday’s Importace]
Jummah Day is the Mother of All Days, as well as the Most Righteous and Best of Days. That is why believers look forward to it with such zeal. It’s a day filled of goodwill. It is a time when Muslims gather to honour a single Lord, to learn about His qualities, and to express sorrow by standing shoulder to shoulder and reaffirming their faith and dedication to Him. Allah says:
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ
“We have certainly created man into hardship.” (Surah Al Balad 90:4)
Friday is more difficult and rewarding than the other days of the week. Friday is the day when Muslims meet in congregation to pray. It is a revered day to which Allah Almighty has assigned all things considered; no other day of the week compares to it.
According to hadith, there are various advantages to performing Jumma Prayer. Except for the sick, slaves, women, and children, every man is required to pray on Friday.
Jummah’s Blessings and Special Deeds:
- The month of Jummah necessitates a special or overwhelming demand for supplication
- For Muslims, Friday is the most auspicious day of the week

As recounted by Salmaan, may Allah be pleased with him, it is a day on which sins are pardoned. Friday is the fifth of the seven days of the week. Jummah is the Arabic term for Friday. Congregation is the literal definition of the word. This day (importance of “Jummah” in islam) is accorded greater importance in Islam than any other day of the week. Allah says:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نُودِيَ لِلصَّلَاةِ مِن يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَاسْعَوْا إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَذَرُوا الْبَيْعَ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
“O you who believe! When (the) call is made for (the) prayer on (the) day (of) Friday, then hasten to (the) remembrance (of) Allah and leave the business. That (is) better for you, if you know.” (Surah Al Juma’a 62:9)
Importance of Jummah in Islam
Reason why this day is held in such high regard. The following are some of the reasons why Jummah is so important in Islam:
- On the day of Jummah, Adam was sent to Earth and died.
- On Jummah, the Earth was created, and on Jummah, it will be shut down.
- When the time comes, Friday will be the Day of Judgment.
- Every Muslim man is required to pray the Jummah prayer.
- Fasting is forbidden on the day of Jummah.
- In it, doing good deeds is preferred.
- Friday is the week’s master.
- In Jummah, charity is preferable.
- On Friday, Allah blesses His servants.
- It is a day when misdeeds are pardoned.
- It’s a Festival Day, which happens on a regular basis.
- Those who walk to Friday prayer (Jummah) will be well rewarded.
- On Jummah, animals will greet one another with “Peace be upon you, today is Friday.”
- Hazrat Adam (AS) was created on this day, and he was also allowed to enter Jannah on same day. On that specific day.
- This day, you have one hour to petition Allah for anything and He will grant you His blessings.
Significance of Friday prayer (Jummah)
In Islam, Friday is a significant day. Adam (AS) was formed on jummah; it is also the day which Adam (AS) was sent to paradise; and this is the day on which Adam (AS) was sent to earth, from paradise for various reasons. On Jummah, the resurrection will also take place (Friday). Jummah is considered to be a great day in Islam.

What is the benefit of reading Surah Kahf on Friday?
ALLAH will shower a light (NOOR) on the face of whoever reads Surah Kahf on Friday, and it will last for the next two Fridays. ALLAH will forgive all of his/her sins to those who recite this Surah every Friday. Whoever reads Surah Kahf on Friday, ALLAH will bless his or her home and keep him or her from poverty.
